ALBACORE TUNA FISHING

Boat load of tuna

Our tuna trips depart out of the Port of Ilwaco.  They start off by getting live bait every morning, then heading out and acrossing the Columbia River bar.   Once across the bar, we will begin our search for temperature and water color breaks that will hold birds, baitfish and hopefully albacore tuna.  At this point, we will deploy the troll gear and begin the hunt for tuna.  After we find the fish it's time for the live bait rods to get deployed.  This is the most fun an angler can have!  It's just you against the albacore in the ultimate tug of war battle.

What to bring

  • A valid Washington State saltwater fishing license.

  • Plan for all types of weather.  We recommend extra layers and a full set of rain gear, including waterproof shoes.  Knee boots are the preferred footwear for these trips, nce we are constantly washing down the deck.

  • A sack lunch, snacks and drinks.  It's a long day on the water so plan to bring plenty of food and drinks.  Pack your lunch and snacks in a small lunchbox or bag.

  • Please no glass containers.

  • Beer is fine on the boat.  But please don't be that guy that gets out of hand.  We will end your trip early and there will not be a refund.

  • Don't forget your sunglasses and sunscreen.

  • A cooler to leave in your car to take your catch home.
